Missing Pregnant Woman Found Dead — Father Of Unborn Child Charged With Murder

In a heartbreaking case that has shaken southwest Houston, the body of 23-year-old Ashanti Allen, who was eight months pregnant with her first child, was discovered on Thursday, April 16, 2026, near Chimney Rock Park after a multi-day search. What began as a missing persons case quickly turned into a homicide investigation, with authorities charging the father of her unborn child in connection with her death.

Ashanti Allen was last seen on or around April 8, 2026, leaving her residence in the 8700 block of Main Street, near McNee Road and Main Street. Family members grew increasingly concerned when they could not reach her and received unusual communications, including a text message to her mother suggesting she was “leaving and never coming back.” Allen was reported missing around April 10 or 11, prompting an urgent search effort involving Houston Police Department (HPD) investigators and volunteers from Texas EquuSearch.

On the morning of April 16, search teams located Allen’s body near a bayou in the area of Chimney Rock Road and West Belfort, close to Chimney Rock Park. Investigators confirmed her identity at the scene. Her cause of death has not yet been publicly released, pending the results of an autopsy.

Detectives quickly developed 24-year-old Kevin Faux as a person of interest and later as the primary suspect. Authorities confirmed that Faux is the father of Allen’s unborn child. He has now been charged in connection with her death.

Initial reports indicated Faux was charged with murder, but Houston police have since upgraded the charge to capital murder. A booking photo from a prior September 2025 arrest—where Faux faced charges of assault on a family member, with Allen listed as the victim—has been released by authorities.

As of Friday, April 17, 2026, Faux remains at large. He is considered armed and dangerous, and a manhunt is underway. Houston police are actively seeking tips from the public to locate him.

Ashanti Allen’s family has been left reeling from the loss. Her father, Edward Allen, spoke briefly with media, expressing profound grief: he described his daughter as a “normal girl, pretty girl, working and trying to live life,” and noted the unimaginable pain of losing not only his daughter but also his first grandson, as she was just weeks away from giving birth.

Allen reportedly had a high-risk pregnancy, adding another layer of tragedy to the case. Family and friends remember her as someone eagerly preparing to welcome her baby, with dreams of motherhood cut short in the most devastating way.

Police have not released additional details about the circumstances leading to Allen’s death or the specific evidence linking Faux to the case, citing the active investigation.

Anyone with information about Kevin Faux’s whereabouts is urged to contact the Houston Police Department Homicide Division at 713-308-3600 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS. Tips can also be submitted anonymously through the Crime Stoppers website.

This case serves as a stark reminder of the vulnerabilities faced by pregnant women in domestic situations and the critical importance of community vigilance when someone goes missing.

Our thoughts are with Ashanti Allen’s family and loved ones during this incredibly difficult time. We will continue to follow developments in this case as more information becomes available.
